Pricing

The rate is set by your utility — not us

WaterQuality.Trading doesn’t sell a fixed price list. Each participating utility sets their own buyback rate and quality multiplier in their program config. The numbers below are the example rates from our reference config; your actual rate is finalized in onboarding.

Quantity Credit (QC)

1 QC per verified gallon

Net metering for water. Every verified gallon earns one QC, redeemed at the same rate the utility charges any other customer for that gallon — typically $0.005–$0.020 per gallon depending on your service area.

Quality Multiplier

0.5×–1.5×, utility-set

Continuous WQM-1 verification (pH, TDS, ORP) sets a quality multiplier the utility applies to QC value — typically 0.5×–1.5×. Configured per program in onboarding.

Kilogram Credit (KC)

1 KC per kg N or P

Issued for each kilogram of nitrogen or phosphorus offset or removed, verified against an established baseline. Priced per program; usable against NPDES nutrient targets.

Hardware

Financed via utility

AWG units run $2,000–$6,000 retail, typically rolled into the participant’s monthly bill. Net cash flow is positive once the rebate exceeds the financed payment.

Platform fee

Per-pilot, transparent

Utility-side platform fee is set in the pilot brief — it’s a fixed percentage of credits issued, not a per-seat or per-device line item. No hidden fees.

What this offsets on your water bill

Net metering for water — every verified gallon earns one Quantity Credit, redeemed at the rate your utility charges for water. Plug in your rate to see your monthly offset.

Net metering, but for water

Every verified gallon earns one Quantity Credit (QC), redeemed at the same rate the utility charges you for water — like solar net metering. Your utility then applies a quality multiplier (0.5×–1.5×) based on continuous WQM-1 verification; this estimate uses a neutral 1.0× example.

Estimated monthly bill offset$19.80 / month
Gallons produced (1,980 / month)× $0.010/gal
Quality multiplier (0.5×–1.5×, utility-set)1.0× example
Annual bill offset$237.60
